I may or may not have downloaded this Friday’s episode of “Sine Qua Non” thanks to some kind UKers. Since a lot of people haven’t seen it yet, I’m putting it behind a cut so you won’t be spoiled. I’d also avoid reading any comments this may generate as well if you want to stay in the dark.
Likes:
- I was going to save the best for last, but let’s just put it out there: William frakking Adama. Everything from his emotional rollercoaster over losing his woman, to going back and forth about letting Athena have Hera, to the oh-so-awesome getting suited up and taking off in a Raptor. “Because I can’t live without her.” Oh, Husker.
- I can see why the men of the show (except James Callis) picked this as their Emmy submission tape. They all did a great job. I used to have issues watching Jamie Bamber whenever he would start to get emotional on the show because, in my opinion, he would push just barely into the wrong side of cheesiness. But he did a great job last night, although to be fair I may have been distracted by the new shirt (more on that later).
- The shots of the ships outside the various viewports this week were stunning and totally made up for the fleet looking very plastic modely a couple of weeks ago. It makes you wonder how many hours the people in the fleet spend watching other ships.
- I love the relationship between Saul and Bill. They go from literally having each others backs to beating the snot out of each other and back in no time.
- The return of Ellen!Six.
Dislikes:
- The only times they’ve used Dee this season is to make a joke about her divorce from Lee, call out a DRADIS hit, and to get into a tizzy over Zarek of all people? C’mon.
- I’ve been feeling that ever since Lee moved into politics that he would be the next President, so I wish they would’ve been less obvious with that storyline. Although finding out his first name is Leland totally makes up for most of that.
- Now having to wait another week-and-a-half to watch the next one. I’ve actually read spoilers for this one (something I rarely do) and it’s going to be indescribably good.
Questions I Now Have:
- How hard is going to be for Bill to find out Saul is a Cylon?
- Speaking of Saul being a Cylon, how the frak is Caprica Six pregnant? Is she really pregnant? Is Saul really the father? Doesn’t this go against everything we’ve been told about Cylon reproduction? And also, props to Commander Mommy for being able to call that one.
- While I loved him in it, where did Lee get another perfectly tailored dress shirt? These people have incredibly limited resources. Where are they getting things like new clothes from?
- I still haven’t decided whether or not I liked Romo in this episode. The actor was good, but I don’t know whether to like or dislike the character. So…
What did you think?
